January was dedicated to Lela’s 7th birthday, with family party, cupcakes for Sunday School, craft and story at school, and finally the friend party. I took the girls to their first Disney on Ice, Princess version, which was a huge hit. And we had snow, lots and lots of snow. Some might even say TOO BLINKING MUCH SNOW.
February is quiet, as Jamie could manage with one family birthday party. We also celebrated the Lunar New Year (Rabbit) with our friends at FCC (Families with Children from China.) I worked with other local NGO’s to create a new event, a festival of local history and nature. The girls continued their skating lessons, which they were finally enjoying since they could stay on their feet. Lian is fearless, whizzing about the ice like a tiny about to go out of control rocket. They also played basketball. Lela can sink a ball, her Queen of the Monkey Bars status having given her the upper body to really toss it, and she’s got a pretty good eye too.
