Xmas 2010

New Year's Eve

On top of un-named Mountain, without any snow

I did make it to the top

Carrie got the hot-dogger. Long story short, we've been passing it back and forth between our family and Saffians for nearly 40 years now, taking elaborate steps to disguise what was coming.

CJ turns 50. How could that happen, since I'm not that old yet?

Fun in the Georgia snow

Chris and her annual giant calendar

Xmas day with Chris and Christy. Let the unwrapping begin!
(I'd forgotten how Blogger posts your pix in reverse order, tre annoying, so they are chronological from bottom to top)

The annual review, where to start? How about last Xmas, with our annual trek to a Wilson family gathering. After Xmas day in Port with Chris, it was off to Carrie and Jerry’s new home in GA, driving through a blizzard the last 50 miles in the mountains, on small winding roads, in the dark. White knuckles all the way, such fun. We had Xmas #2 on the 27th. Their house is a beautiful wood lodge, and was very picturesque in the snow – which then conveniently melted 2 days later. We hiked (or staggered, gasping, in my case) to the top of the mountain behind their house and admired the view. We had Carrie’s 50th birthday and New Years Eve, for which Jerry had acquired some fireworks. The highlight of the trip for L & L? The heated pool at the hotel on the way home.

Mother's Day

Last spring while riding the train home from the city where I had just handed in the last of Lian's paperwork, I had nothing to do since I had gone through all my reading material while waiting at the Chinese Embassy. I got out a notepad and this poem started to flow and practically wrote itself. Adoption can be bittersweet as there is no gain without a loss.
